A call for Global Harmony and Healing for eight days

Unity in Diversity

We the caring citizens of the world representing all ages, genders, colours, races, orientations, religious faiths, political affiliations, economic backgrounds, values and beliefs call for Global Harmony and Healing for eight days, beginning August 8th, 2008.

For these eight days, we petition for:

1. A universal day off on August 8 to consider positive change and participate in any positive act contributing to Global Harmony and Healing.
2. A laying-down of arms around the world for eight days.
3. All political, religious and other influential leaders to recognize, adapt, instill, encourage and promote this movement.
4. Humane treatment of all people, animals, and all other living creatures around the world.
5. Positive, abundant thinking and sharing with those in pain and poverty.
6. The conscious care and management of trees, plants, land, water, air, elements and resources; the whole of our life-sustaining earth.
7. Co-operation of religions to create a new universal religious code of ethics that includes respect for the right of free belief, ending all violence in the name of any god. As well, all followers of all faiths, regardless of gender, are allowed equal rights to freedom, education, and liberties. The use of segregating language is abolished, and all religions respect each other.
8. Majority coverage of positive events and actions in the media (as opposed to negative).
9. The tying of white Harmony and Healing ribbons around trees globally.
10. The flying of white Harmony and Healing flags around the world at governmental, corporate, and private offices as well as homes.

World Records can be set:

1. Number of children and impoverished families sponsored
   through world relief funds
2. Number of peace marches worldwide
3. Dollars donated to environmental causes
4. Dollars donated to wildlife funds
5. Dollars donated to human causes
6. Number of people to volunteer their time, resources and
   efforts towards worthwhile causes
7. Number of adults who intend on positively mentoring the young
8. Number of weapons of all kinds handed in to authorities
   worldwide through an encompassing weapons amnesty
9. Number of wrongly or illegally imprisoned individuals released
10. Number of actions taken toward positive
    environmental changes

Our intention is for the manifestation of the common dream for universal peace, health, freedom, earth, equality, and abundance. We urge everyone to move forward with courage and positive intent, knowing that each small change means a big change.
